THE BEGINNING AND EARLY YEARS:
THE HIGH SCHOOL, SRIRANGAM, was established on 22nd January, 1896 by Sri R. Veeraraghavachariar – a great dedicated teacher with a rare degree of vision and courage. It was run as a co-educational School upto 1946. To cater to increased number of Girl students joining the school, a separate School was formed exclusively for Girls, under the same management but with independent Heads of the Institutions and independent name for the Schools. The Girls’ High School, Srirangam was established in 1947 and was inaugurated by Sri .T.S.Avinasilingam Chettiar, the then minister for Education in the Madras Presidency. .
Located in the midst of sylvan and serene atmosphere in between Srirangam - the abode of Lord Ranganatha and the Jambukeshwar Temple at Thiruvanaikovil, these institutions stand and aim for excellence in education. They envisage development of a disciplined personality based on the motto - “Duty Thine Only Idol” .
Sri. Veeraraghavachariar started “The High school” in the premises of the 'Sokki Madam' in Ammammandapam Road opposite the present Police Station, and it was shifted to the present campus in 1914. Queen's Diamond Jubilee Lower Secondary School managed by Shri R. Ramanuja Iyengar was amalgamated with this school in July 1909, under the influence of the then Inspecting Officer. The school was raised to the status of a full fledged High School in 1905.

The school was registered as a body in 1905 and Sri A.V.Gopalachariar, an eminent lawyer, was the First President of the School Managing Committee (1905 to 1962)
By the noble and generous gesture of the Nagarathar community, land measuring about 12 acres was made available to the school. In addition to this, the contributions made by the Thiruppanandal Mutt in the form of donation of part of the land for the school and the help rendered by the Jesuit Fathers of St. Joseph's College Trichy in securing the site should go on record, in appreciation.
